Price Your Job was founded in 2017 with a single aim of helping UK homeowners price jobs they needed doing around their houses. Our aim from the very beginning was to provide in depth guides that explain what a job entails as well as the costs involved, from labour to materials.
We gather data from thousands of quotes submitted by real people to calculate our job prices as well as by talking to trades, researching the web and other offline sources.
As we strive to have the most upto date information on the website, we welcome any feedback relating to any of our guides, you can contact us via the form to submit your thoughts.
Over the years we have received many comments about the prices not always being exact, we would like to make it clear that we can only estimate the cost of a job, there are many variables which affect the overall price and we suggest that you always consult with a trade professional and several sources before accepting a quote. You can read our full disclaimer here.
Sam Jones – BA Hons English – Sam has a keen interest in home improvement and in particular interior design. She has written for a number of large publications as well as published her own fiction pieces. Sam writes about everything from boiler repair to full extensions.
Jack Parrott – BA Hons Journalism – Jack has been with the team since the start and has a strong attention to detail, especially relating to the costs of materials. Jack covers a variety of sections of the price your job site, focusing on outdoor jobs primarily.
Phil Gateshead – Lifelong writer – Phil joined the team in 2018 and has helped boost our guides to the next level. He makes sure all elements are covered in relation to the job, so much so we have to put an index on his guides!
Rachel Morgan-Smyth - BA (Hons) Philosophy - My father was a carpenter and I grew up around his workshop learning a lot from him. This was one of the reasons I entered into the construction and home improvement sector where I worked for more than 30 years. I have always a keen writer and enjoy writing about what I know and what I continue to learn.
Priceyourjob, like all websites has a running cost. This cost is offset by our find a trade service. When a user posts a job through our website, we earn money through our partners. We don’t wish to allow advertising on the website, and we don’t want to compromise the editorial quality and so therefore we have decided to keep external links to a minimum.
If you have any queries relating to the site you can contact us any time by visiting our contact page. Please note, we may take upto 1 business day to reply and our office hours are 9-5.
